Seeking justice for WRM Group and Raffaele Mincione
WRM Group, an investment group based in Luxembourg, London, and Milan, and its founder, Raffaele Mincione, are victims of an aggressive and baseless judicial and media campaign led by the Secretariat of State (“Secretariat”) and the Office of the Promoter of Justice (“OPJ”) of the Holy See.
In a brazen effort to cover up internal mismanagement and incompetence by Vatican officials, Mr. Mincione has been implicated in a sprawling case involving numerous individuals and allegations, mostly centred around Cardinal Giovanni Becciu. The various allegations against Mr. Mincione pertain to the purported investment by Credit Suisse, acting on behalf of the Secretariat, into a fund which ultimately owned a property at 60 Sloane Avenue in London.
Mr. Mincione has been charged with a number of offences including fraud and embezzlement. Despite the trial lasting already three years, Vatican prosecutors have not been able to offer any evidence to show that Mr Mincione has done anything wrong. Instead, there has been a bizarre attempt to taint him by association with questionable characters who worked for the Vatican.
Not only does Mr. Mincione deny all the allegations against him, he has also applied to an English court for declaratory relief – a judicial finding that he did nothing wrong in his dealings with Credit Suisse and the Secretariat of State of the Holy See pertaining to the London property. The case has received international criticism for the lack of due process, the use of special orders to give the prosecution nearly unlimited powers of investigation, and the disregard for basic norms of rule of law and human rights.
While the case is ongoing, and even though none of the WRM Group companies are involved in the proceedings before the Vatican Tribunal, both Mr. Mincione and WRM Group continue to face reputational and economic damage caused by false and misleading statements made to and by the international press, despite the fact that many such statements have been proven as false in the courts. The purpose of this website is therefore to inform journalists and other parties seeking accurate and up-to-date information about the legal proceedings concerning Mr. Mincione and WRM Group. It aims to encourage factual, balanced reporting by serving as a repository of relevant information and documentation, and a resource for anyone seeking information of the various court proceedings which concern them.
